In this ONE NIGHT ONLY Acting for the Camera drop-in, actors will dive headfirst into the hilariously dry, offbeat world of the mockumentary—but not the kind you're used to. Forget The Office or Parks and Rec. This class is all about capturing the bizarre brilliance of a not-so-well-known show called, Wellington Paranormal. Using actual scripts and scenes from the cult-favorite New Zealand series, actors will explore what it means to play absurdity with total sincerity. You’ll work on: Deadpan delivery in heightened situations Direct-to-camera interviews with awkward authority Scene work grounded in realism—even when you’re facing ghosts, goblins, or possessed garden gnomes This class will challenge your comedic instincts, sharpen your camera awareness, and give you the tools to bring supernatural absurdity to life with a completely straight face. ***Elizabeth Byland is a working professional actor, which means that at times she might even book a gig that may conflict with a Wednesday class. Should this happen, the class may be rescheduled or offered remotely to stay on schedule.
